It's high time for Pauliwog to get the shout-out he deserves. On any given swell all year long, Paul Pantelas is just as likely to be cheating fives along Malibu's hectic green walls or clandestinely exploring the outer fringes of California's expansive wilderness-surf empire. Hailing from Newbury Park, CA, Paul has used his hometown as a stragetically positioned springboard to attack surrounding surf locales as the changing seasons dictate. Ask Paul or any other Conejo Valley moondoggie and they'll tell you how they manage to beat the landlocked blues: "35 minutes to Malibu and 35 minutes to Rincon."
Armed with a unique quiver of custom micro platters and down-railed speed machines designed by his long-time friend Bob-O of Boss surfboards, Paul applies a stylishly functional point-and-shoot approach to the various point waves he frequents. He's really one-of-a-kind; basically, if you find yourself anywhere between Malibu and Point Conception and you've just watched a guy in his 40's pull off a 20+ second noseride on a 5-10" 12-channel single fin, then it was probably the Pauliwog doin' his thing.

Paul's passion for low-tide pointbreaks is rivalled only by love for his family: father to two beautiful and hilarious little girls, Paulie excels equally well as both a soccer dad and underground trim master. His ability to balance all of life's meaningful aspects while maintaining such a rich surfing lifestyle is more than inspirational and why I'm proud to call Paul Pantelas my friend.
