16' of Awesomeness

This bad boy was found on craigslist 5 minutes ago:

Complete with 30HP outboard motor, this sweet boat is certified by Davey Jones himself. Made from Hardened wale foreskin, this sea faring vessel has more balls then Chuck Norris.

If you’re looking to pop the collar on your pink polo shirt, don some topsiders and impress the ladies with an afternoon on the water, this is not your boat.

This boat is for an outdoors man. A guy who prefers to do things the hard way, because it’s HIS way damnit! If your looking for a mundane fishing vessel that gets you there and back without a hiccup…….keep looking. This boat is guaranteed to get you into heart pounding, adrenaline pumping situations.

Stop listening to that guy at the bar telling near death stories and start living them. This salty sea coffin WILL get you more “I should have died” stories, girls and possible Discovery Channel TV deals then any other boat listed.

Get your wallet out; you’re only $1200 buck away from adventure and that sweet feeling of satisfaction knowing that you fought for your life.

Helga Steppan

Lately it seems that most things I find interesting are coming out of Scandinavia. For the most part these whimsical tidbits have come in musical form, however I recently came across some photos that are worth mention. Profound in her simplistic objective, photographer Helga Steppan has monochromatically arranged some everyday objects for us to ponder the interplay of contrast within our visual lexicon. My hope is that I've completely missed the mark and she's actually just playing an elaborate practical joke on colorblind people.

old guy inspiration series part 2 - Mr. Buck

I am always impressed/inspired by adult humans who have figured out how to make a life in this world and maintain their commitment to surfing. Andrew Buck is a history teacher in Ojai who surfs Rincon every day after school. In addition to impressive backside tip skills, Andrew also possesses an extensive vintage longboard collection and a surf mat. Here's some pictures of him on the later, the first two taken by his buddy Seth de Roulet, the last by me.

Bling That Boogie!

As many of you know, we at PizzaTime prefer the boogieboard over all other forms of wave-sliding vehicles--especially those lame hulls and surf mats.

Not only can you throw sweet 360s on a boogieboard, you can also accessorize! Check it:

god bless america

why do uneducated white people in america share the political interests of powerful corporations?

why do conservatives do a better job of protesting health care reform than we did protesting the wars in iraq and afghanistan, the wall street bailout, the patriot act, guantanamo prison, destruction of the environment, etc.?

best bali drive(r)

if you ever find yourself in bali, make sure to find Ketut Ciri to be your driver. renting a motorbike can be fun but is very dangerous in Kuta. Ketut drove us around and it was one of the highlights of our trip. he's funny, kind, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and he really liked when ry guy told embarrassing stories about me.

Boogieboarding is totally awesome. Gilda might try to tell you that surf mats are all the rage right now, but watch this video and try to tell me that anything is cooler than boogieboarding--I dare you:

Inspiration Series part 1 of 5: Pauliwog

It's high time for Pauliwog to get the shout-out he deserves. On any given swell all year long, Paul Pantelas is just as likely to be cheating fives along Malibu's hectic green walls or clandestinely exploring the outer fringes of California's expansive wilderness-surf empire. Hailing from Newbury Park, CA, Paul has used his hometown as a stragetically positioned springboard to attack surrounding surf locales as the changing seasons dictate. Ask Paul or any other Conejo Valley moondoggie and they'll tell you how they manage to beat the landlocked blues: "35 minutes to Malibu and 35 minutes to Rincon."

Armed with a unique quiver of custom micro platters and down-railed speed machines designed by his long-time friend Bob-O of Boss surfboards, Paul applies a stylishly functional point-and-shoot approach to the various point waves he frequents. He's really one-of-a-kind; basically, if you find yourself anywhere between Malibu and Point Conception and you've just watched a guy in his 40's pull off a 20+ second noseride on a 5-10" 12-channel single fin, then it was probably the Pauliwog doin' his thing.

Paul's passion for low-tide pointbreaks is rivalled only by love for his family: father to two beautiful and hilarious little girls, Paulie excels equally well as both a soccer dad and underground trim master. His ability to balance all of life's meaningful aspects while maintaining such a rich surfing lifestyle is more than inspirational and why I'm proud to call Paul Pantelas my friend.

Swimming Cities of Serenissima

All info and pictures are all off the website and flicker!

"The Swimming Cities of Serenissima is a fleet of three intricately hand-crafted vessels that will navigate the Adriatic Sea from the Karst region of Slovenia to Venice, Italy in May of 2009. Designed by the artist SWOON, the floating sculptures are descendants of the Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea (Hudson River, 2008) and the Miss Rockaway Armada (Mississippi River, 2006 and 2007). The Swimming Cities of Serenissima are built from salvaged materials, including modified Mercedes car motors with long-tail propellers. For Swimming Cities, SWOON will collaborate with 30 artists from the United States, including OBIE award-winning playwright Lisa D'Amour. As the Swimming Cities move toward Venice, the crew will collect and install keepsakes in an ark-like cabinet of wonders that will be on display on the boats when they arrive. Once in Venice, the boats and crew will offer intimate performances that incorporate music, shadow puppetry, and story. The project is produced with the assistance of Deitch Projects, Paper Monster and Black Rat Press"
